Surfer Dude WINS! Strong Light and Sinnin N Grinnin Run Huge as well!

SURFER DUDE got the party started on Saturday at Churchill Downs, breaking his maiden in the 6th race in impressive fashion for owners Mark and Nancy Stanley and trainer Dallas Stewart. Pressing the pace and fighting for the lead per usual, Surfer Dude was caught after the turn of the 7 furlong event, but battled on and re-took the lead, going on to win by a neck. Dallas Stewart usually sends most of his horses to Fair Grounds in New Orleans for the winter, so most likely that is where the two year old son of Curlin and Tiz Miz Sue will re-surface.

Three races later in the 9th, STRONG LIGHT ran a huge 3rd in a MSW race going a mile and a sixteenth in his first start. The colt owned in partnership with West Point Thoroughbreds, Albaugh Family Stables and Cres Ran, was in the back of the pack, picked up some horses, then made a huge move in the turn and was still flying and grinding, just missing by about a length for the whole thing. Strong Light will head to Gulfstream Park.

The Romans Racing Instagram has some great photos of the colt at the following:

Finally on Monday, SINNIN N GRINNIN ran a huge debut race in a State Bred Maiden Special Weight in the 8th and final at Remington Park. Settling behind horses and eating a lot of dirt, she was restrained behind them before swinging wide and making a move after the two leaders, that had spurted clear a bit. Grinding and switching leads a little off response, she was wearing them down and just missed by a neck finishing second. Couldn't be happier with the daughter of Sue's Sweet Sioux, as I don't think we had her all the way fit for the race. She was certainly tired this morning, but she has a bright future in front of her.
