Souper Sensational - 2nd in Grade 2 Prioress, and Updates

Souper Sensational, shown here winning at Woodbine last fall, ran a game second in the Grade 2 Prioress at Saratoga today. Sent off as the big favorite, she tracked the leaders while being kept wide, then went 4 wide into the turn, exchanging bumps with the eventual winner, which seemed to knock her slightly off stride, and then hung a bit. Probably, the combination of bouncing off previous effort slightly, the exchanging of bumps, and the wide trip cost her the win, but still a great performance and it's on to the next one. As a reminder, "Souper" is by Curlin and out of Kateri, a half sister to Sassy Miss Sue, the dam of Shezapistol.

SHEZAPISTOL UPDATE - OFF TO CHURCHILL

Shezapistol had her final planned work at Red Earth this morning, going an easy three furlongs in company with another filly. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the track was a little drier than planned, so decision was made to work nice and easy. The filly did as she always does, nice and professional. She responded to the rider well and switched leads as desired - her rider even gave her a "Mucho Bueno" after when I asked.

If all goes according to plan, she will ship to Churchill next Wed, leaving here about 4:30 - 5:30 AM, and that should put her into Churchill about 8:00 PM. I will be in Kentucky the following week and will have my eyes on her - but will obviously get daily from Hobby as well.

See the pics from today above, as well as this video of her cool out:

Cres Ran LLC Updates

NEWSCASTER (8th race) and GOODY TWO SIOUX (6th race) are both entered to run at Remington Park next Thursday, the 9th. Both look to have a fair chance in the races, but both have some questions to answer as well. Newscaster is facing a tough field, and going a mile and a sixteenth, which is not preferred. Goody Two Sioux should be much the best - if she wants to run, which I believe she does.

As I hope you saw in your inbox, Crescent Capital is hosting a night at the races next Thursday the 9th with our two entries at Remington. With Covid, things are a bit different - but we will have our suite and look forward to see you all there, and bring some friends!

Entries are HERE

TIZ LIFE has shifted his base to Remington Park after finishing 4th again at Ellis Park last weekend As we've reviewed before, despite the championship breeding he just doesn't have much juice. But, it would be a bonus for me to win a race for his mother and the rest of the family, so he is shifted his base here in an effort to get some easier competition. He arrived yesterday and here he is on the walker this morning (low quality, ha)

FLASHY BIZ had a solid comeback race a few weeks back at Ellis Park, and is entered next week, also on Thursday Sept. 9th at Kentucky Downs. Her sire, Fed Biz, has produced some nice turf horses, and we always wondered if she may take to it, but hadn't got a real chance previously. Excited to try. She is entered in Race 2,

TREATY will be travelling on the same van as Shezapistol to Churchill and we are excited to get him there as well. He has also been performing well in his training, and I expect him to be a solid, if not superstar performer. Here he is a few weeks back pouting cause I ran out of treats for him

SINNIN N GRINNIN and SWEET TEA RED both got a little "shinny" after a few works at Remington, so we backed off of both of them for a bit, though both are now back jogging. This is a common thing for two year olds as their shins (cannon bone area) get sore from the increased intensity in training, and you just have to keep an eye on them till they get past it.

CRESRAN LLC - FAMILY UPDATES

Here are some updates from horses that are related to Shezapistol - or ones that Cres Ran bred or sold as well:

PRINCESS BRIE (2016 Filly out of Sue's Sweet Sioux - a 1/2 sister to dam of Shezapistol) - She has won all 4 of her starts this year at Penn National. While not the most talented filly, she is tough and has improved up the scale, something that is tough to do. Excited for what she tries next.

SURFER DUDE (2019 Colt out of Tiz Miz Sue - full sister to dam of Shezapistol) - This son of Curlin has worked three times since his impressive second place finish on debut last month. Have to assume his connections have a spot picked out, or have tried to enter him and he just hasn't got in.

NOT ON MY WATCH (2018 1/2 sister to Shezapistol) - Absent from the worktab since her maiden victory in the spring, she returned to the work tab last week. Nice to know she is back on track.

FREEZE TURKEY (2018 Colt out of Never Home - Cres Ran bred) - The funniest horse name for any Cres Ran bred is entered on Monday Sept. 6th in the 3rd race at Monmouth. While nice to have him back, will be curious to watch as its pretty quick back after limited works.

Ok, Look forward to seeing all that can make it this week, and i'll be back with an update following the races to cover the racing results, as well as the upcoming Keeneland yearling sale and the NEW Crescent Capital Offering.
