Results and Updates, 5.25

Well gang, sometimes it seems the only luck you can have in this game is of the tough kind. Last week's results were filled with that

Newscaster ran on Sunday in the allowance race at Lone Star. Breaking from the rail (again) and in the mud (again), he was sharp early and led through an opening quarter in 22.22 and an opening half in 44.87. Putting away the first set of foes, two came charging at him, but he fought gamely. He was caught in the shadow of the wire to finish second. The final time of 1:10.73 was a very quick time given the fractions et al, and we are thrilled with his effort. He ran a winning race, just didn't get the win!

Mesta Park was in the 7th race, an allowance at Will Rogers Downs. Sent off as the favorite, his gate loading improved and he stood much better after loading. Unfortunately, when the gate opened, he stumbled all the way to his knees, hitting his head on the ground. Spotting the field about 15/20 lengths, he made a mild move but had lost the race at the break. We will re-group and head to the next one.

In other news, Headland, who is a filly we bought for some clients, was entered in the Winning Colors at Churchill on Saturday. Like Mesta Park, she went to her knees out the gate and lost all chance. Was going to be a tough race anyway, but we liked our chances. Watch the head on to see the brutal stumble.

Finally, our two year old colt with West Point and Albaugh Stables, Strong Light, had his first three furlong work this morning. Trained by Dale Romans, the colt is progressing well.

Have a great week!
