Racing Recap, Racing Preview and Shezapistol et al Updates

SINNIN N GRINNIN checking out the action post workout, 11.20.21

Happy Thanksgiving to you all, and I hope that the holiday treated everyone well and that there is plenty of leftover dessert to last you through the weekend! Cres Ran and Crescent Capital have had a busy few weeks, so let's get right to the recaps, previews and updates!

SHEZAPISTOL - ON THE ROAD

SHEZAPISTOL and the rest of the Steve Hobby barn is on the way to Hot Springs, AR and their winter and spring home at Oaklawn Park today, Saturday the 27th. "Pistol" was picked up from her 45 days off at LaCroix on Friday. "She looks good. Real, real good. Time off has done her well" said Steve Hobby this morning.

She will gallop for a few weeks, but it won't take long to get back on the work-tab and I predict somewhere around mid Dec she will have here first work back.

GOODY TWO SIOUX - 4th and Claimed

GOODY TWO SIOUX went for three in a row on Monday the 22nd at Remington Park. Breaking well and pressing the pace three wide, she was slightly bumped into the turn and it threw her a bit off stride. She was unable to re-gain complete momentum, and finished 4th only beaten about three lengths for the whole thing. As we thought she would, she was claimed out of the race, most likely for a breeding prospect. We wish connections the best for this hard trying filly.

TREATY - 6th in Debut at Churchill

TREATY in the paddock 11.24, photo by Kaitlin Free, Churchill.

TREATY made his career debut at Churchill on Wed the 24th in a $150,000 Maiden Claiming race at Churchill, and finished 6th, losing all chance at the break. Breaking just a half tick slow, the horse with jockey Ricardo Santana next to Treaty broke over on to him, getting completely sideways in front of us, and causing Treaty to essentially stop and drop about 10-12 lengths off the pace. Getting his stride together, Treaty began to make up some ground on the turn. Jockey Joe Rocco, Jr took him to the inside in an attempt to save ground, but he noted after the race that he didn't love it down there, and felt had he taken him outside he would have finished stronger, probably running third or so. When you lose all chance at the start, you just want to get some experience and learn some things, and we certainly did. Blinkers and keeping him outside are on the agenda next start.

TIZ MIZ SUE Babies - Running all over the Globe this weekend

Tiz Miz Sue, 11.15.21 at Spring House Farm in Lexington

TIZ MIZ SUE has three babies running this weekend in three different countries, so plenty to watch.

TATWEEJ got the action going this morning, finishing 6th in an open allowance/stake in Saudi Arabia. Tatweej is the 5yo son of Tapit and Tiz Miz Sue that sold to Shadwell Farm at Keeneland in 2017. Tough to tell the exact situation with him, but doesn't seem to have the same style or flash he had winning 4 out of 5 tough allowance races at Gulfstream and Aqueduct this past fall and winter. Time will tell.

Here is a replay of the race, he is the #12 horse

Next up is SEREIN, the four year old filly by Uncle Mo out of Tiz Miz Sue, that runs in a deep, deep allowance race on the Japan Cup undercard in Tokyo tonight at about 11:45 PM Central time. The race should be broadcast on TVG as the Japan Cup is a major world race and the whole card is broadcast. Tiz Miz Sue's 2021 foal is a full sister to Serein.

The race is the 10th race from Tokyo on the Japan Cup card, and it is known as the Applause Sho.

Entries and Odds HERE

Finally on Sunday at Churchill, SURFER DUDE runs again in a Maiden Special Weight going seven furlongs. I've found the strategy they have employed with this horse as interesting, as he seems to press the pace and make an early move when going a route of ground, then tires in final stages. He has run solid thirds in his last two races, so hopefully the cut back in distance will do the trick for the two year old son of Curlin and Tiz Miz Sue.

Entries HERE and the race goes off about 2:30 CST and should be on Fox Sports 2 and TVG.

Cres Ran Entries and Upcoming Plans

Strong Light photo provided by West Point and owned by Gwen Davis

STRONG LIGHT gets the week started, making his debut in the 9th at Churchill on Sunday. Owned in partnership with West Point Thoroughbreds and Albaugh Stables, he makes his debut for trainer Dale Romans going a route. Dale has commented that the horse doesn't show much speed (not good) but does not get tired (good...maybe) so we shall see. Entries HERE

SINNIN N GRINNIN gets her career started on Monday the 29th at Remington Park, going in the 8th and final race of the day. She has come around quickly after not being able to train much due to getting sore in the shins, but is really learning and coming into herself. Excited for the debut. Entries HERE and the race is at Remington about 5:45 on Monday. Love to see you out there.

Bath time for Tiz Life post workout 11.27 at Remington Park

Finally, TIZ LIFE should get his "re-start" going on December 6th at Remington Park. Kari has been very happy with the eagerness in training, and he has been outworking his workmates most mornings, showing more desire than at any point in the past. Working this morning with multiple stakes winner NUMBER ONE DUDE, he started off behind "Dude", catching him after about 3f, dropping back off again, re-catching him about a furlong later, going on even terms for about a furlong and then "Dude" opened up a half length or so on him. Getting out-worked is never a goal, but "Dude" is an in-shape, in-form stakes winner, and Tiz Life can't be fully fit yet and, well, he's never shown any desire or ability to be anywhere near a stakes winner, so I was more encouraged than discouraged.

Series II and Series III Updates

Our Series II Offering 2020 Colt by Goldencents out of Appealing Cat has begun the breaking process at Red Earth south of Norman. Bernie says he's doing everything well and is intelligent, and well behaved, and as they say "hasn't realized he's a colt yet". I went and put eyes on him this week and he is filling out well.

Catalina Winemixer (chestnut) grazing at C.R. Trout's farm in Edmond

Our Series III pin-hook offering Catalina Winemixer, the 2021 Colt by Catalina Cruiser out of Stephanie Jayne is settling in at C.R. Trout's farm in Edmond and getting all the good treatment. Will let him develop and point for a summer sale in 2022.

Have a happy rest of the month, and I'll be back soon with full updates, recaps and the rest!
