Opening Weekend at Keeneland, Updates and Horses to Watch

Happy Keeneland Opening Weekend Gang. One of the fun race meets every year, the October Keeneland meet features big time racing for big time money, with almost every race day there is a Breeders Cup "Win and You're In" Race as we are now about a month away from the Breeders Cup weekend at Del Mar.

Along with the running's of the Darley Acibiades (BC Juvenile Fillies), the Breeders Futurity (BC Juvenile) the Phoenix (BC Sprint), and the Keeneland Turf Mile (BC Mile) to name a few, there are several horses with Cres Ran ties running this weekend at Keeneland.

SURFER DUDE , pictured above in the paddock at Colonial Downs, runs in the last race at Keeneland on Saturday the 9th, going a mile and a sixteenth in a maiden race. By Curlin and out of Tiz Miz Sue, this colt was sold by Cres Ran last year at the Keeneland September Sale. After a strong debut second at Colonial, he finished 5th in a MSW at Churchill in mid September, sprinting again and pressing the pace. This race should shoot what he is bred to do better, and I'm excited to see him go the two turns.

COUNTY FINAL, a West Point and Partners purchase as a two year old last summer at the Fasig Tipton Kentucky Horses of Racing Age Sale goes in the Woodford, Race 6, at Keeneland on Saturday. This race is a prep for the turf sprint at the Breeder's Cup, and is a loaded race.

BLAKE B, claimed from Cres Ran and West Point in his last start, goes in the first race of the day on Saturday, a maiden claimer for $30,000.00. I think Blake has a few wins in him, so maybe a rider change will do the trick.

SHEZAPISTOL AND SERIES II UPDATE

SHEZAPISTOL arrived at LaCroix Farm in Kentucky for her rest and turn-out this week. All's good and she has settled in well, and we will re X-ray her in 45 to 60 days and go from there. Can't wait to watch her do her thing, but have to be patient so she will reward us.

Our Series II Offering, the Goldencents - Appealing Cat 2020 Colt has arrived at Red Earth Training Center in Oklahoma. He will be turned out for 15-25 days and then brought back into the barn for early breaking and training.

All else is rolling along. FLASHY BIZ was entered to run at Keeneland next Wed., but the race didn't go, so we will try again for Thursday the 14th. NEWSCASTER is aiming for a race about October 21st, and GOODY TWO SIOUX is pointing to a race at the end of October.

Cres Ran still has two yearlings entered in the Fasig Tipton October Sale as well as two weanlings in the Keeneland November Sale. Looking forward to all the action, as well as picking up some more horses, and possibly our first pinhook weanling to yearling investment for Crescent Capital, LLC. Have a great weekend!
