Not on My Watch - 7th in Return

NOT ON MY WATCH, the three year old 1/2 sister to our SHEZAPISTOL, made her return yesterday at Laurel in the 7th race. Unfortunately, she didn't seem to take to the going on the turf, and didn't really do much running, finishing in the back of the pack.

Since we don't own the filly or really know the connections well, we will just have to wait and see what is the next plan for her. I wouldn't give up any hope in her ability to bounce back from this poor performance, as it was her first race in almost 9 months, and her first try on the turf.

Elsewhere, TREATY had his first five furlong work at Churchill on Saturday morning, getting the 5f in 1:01.60, the 16th fastest out of 42. It was a nice and easy work alone, while ridden by our gallop hand instead of a jockey. Did well and will do it again next weekend, probably in company and possibly out of the gate.

Finally on the racetrack, a reminder that NEWSCASTER is entered in the last race on Thursday the 21st at Remington, scheduled to go off at about 10:51 pm CST.

Sales Updates

The Fasig Tipton October Sale is coming up beginning on October 25th thru the 28th. Cres Ran has entered two in the sale, HIP 377, the 1/2 sister to SHEZAPISTOL, a Goldencents filly out of Sassy Miss Sue; and HIP 529, a Munnings filly out of Sue's Sweet Sioux, who is of course also out of our foundation mare Sue's Good News.

The Munnings filly is an outstanding individual, but the mare isn't quite as successful as the rest of the family, so unsure of what to expect. The Goldencents 1/2 sister to "Pistol" is a bit backwards physically at the moment, so we are possibly going to sell it for a bargain price, but as talented as we think "Pistol" is, we won't be giving her away, unless something else arises in her x ray report or the like.

About two weeks following the October yearling sale is the Keeneland November Sale, the premier sale of breeding stock in the world. The sale features broodmares, foals, racing and broodmare prospects, and racing prospects over the course of about two weeks.

Cres Ran has two foals entered in the sale, HIP 679, a Bernadini weanling colt out of Sue's Good News, and HIP 961, a Union Rags colt out of Miz K, the first foal out of our Grade 1 winning Tiz Miz Sue. Both foals are good individuals, and we wanted to try to take advantage of the hot market for foals that has been happening over the last 12-18 months and enter them now, as opposed to waiting till they are yearlings.

Given all four horses entered, I'll be happy if I sell two of them for good returns, and then hopefully sell one more for a fair price, and then maybe keep one. Can click on the Hip numbers for the Keeneland Sale to go to the horse's sale pages featuring catalog and eventually photos and videos.

Have a great week and I'll update on the race results for the week and other updates.
