March 7th Update - Cres Ran and Crescent Capital

Weekend Results for Cres Ran LLC and One to go Next Week

Well the weekend got started on Saturday afternoon at Oaklawn in the 3rd race with Flashy Biz. Finally getting in the Starter Allowance we had hoped for, Flashy ran her usual come from behind style, but there was too much to do in the 6f sprint and she finished 4th. Last year, we determined Flashy was better running long, but she wouldn't relax, so thus she had no finish. This year through two sprint starts, she is relaxing much better, so we will run her long next start.

Saturday night at Sam Houston, Musical Millie ran a great 3rd in the 7th race. Yet again, we could not get her in the desired race, and had to run her in a 1x Allowance Race (an allowance race for horses that have not won a race other than maiden, claiming, starter or trial). Facing a full field, Millie was trapped along the rail and in traffic down the backstretch, but was able to wait patiently until a chance to swing out to the three path and was coming after the leaders down the stretch, only getting beat about a length for the whole thing. Couldn't be prouder of her! Link to video of the race below:

Finally, at Sam Houston on Thursday, March 11th, Newscaster makes his 4yo debut in race 3, a MSW going 5.5F. This is a 4yo son of Uncle Mo out of Sue's Good News, making him a half brother to Bulletin, Tiz Miz Sue, and Sassy Miss Sue. Newscaster, from the time we started breaking him, showed immense talent. Unfortunately, both as a 2yo and a 3yo, he would not display any effort or talent in his races. In fact, he would put forth no effort and acted scared of horses. So in the summer and fall of 2020, we sent him for some intense training at Keith Asumussen's training center in Texas. It took awhile to get through some bumps and bruises this winter, but we are going to see what he chooses to do this time. The race is scheduled to be run about 5:00 PM.

2019 Sassy Miss Sue Update

The filly continues to do well on turn out at West Win Farm, the turn out facility for Red Earth Training Center. In discussing with the trainer, we will get her back under tack and on track around March 25th with an eye on being ready for shipping to the racetrack about June 15th or so. We will update weekly, and will schedule a visit to the training center during the month of April.

Family Updates - Sue's Good News

Tatweej had a solid work on March 7th in preparation for his trip to Dubai for the Grade 2 Godolphin Mile on the Dubai World Cup card.

Souper Sensational has been consistently working each weekend in advance of the Fair Grounds Oaks on March 27th at the Fair Grounds.

Tiz Splendid News, the filly by Maclean's Music out of Tiz News, a full sister to Sassy Miss Sue, making this filly on the exact same breeding, has got back on the work-tab for the last two weekends at Keeneland. The Keeneland meet begins in early April, and my projection is the stakes placed filly will be pointing for a stake or allowance early in the meet.
