It's the best week of the year! The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, May 1st and The Kentucky Oaks is to be run the day before. As you know, we have a close relative to our Series 1 Offering targeting the Oaks, so I wanted to start the week off with an update there.
SOUPER SENSATIONAL - KENTUCKY OAKS UPDATE
Souper Sensational has continued to turn in great works leading up to the Oaks in the past few weeks, as can be seen by clicking her name and looking at the workouts tab. However, based on the press releases from Churchill Downs, it appears she may not be entered on Monday morning. Per the releases, she is no longer under the "probable" category, so my guess is she is possibly going to enter the Eight Belles on the undercard. Entries for the Kentucky Oaks card are tomorrow, Monday. The Kentucky Oaks Draw can be streamed at www.kentuckyderby.com at 10:00 AM Central.
TIZ SPLENDID NEWS - FINISHES 3RD AT KEENELAND
Tiz Splendid News (2018 Filly by Maclean's Music - Tiz News by Tiznow) finished third in an allowance at Keeneland on 4/21. Sent off as the heavy favorite as a main track only entrant, but also going a mile and an eighth in the second start off a layoff, she went to the lead and posted solid fractions before tiring in the final 1/8 of a mile. She's in great hands so will have a big future. More details about the race, including video are HERE
CRES RAN LLC AND RML THOROUGHBREDS - BUSY WEEK AHEAD AT THE TRACK
We have a busy week of entries all over the region this week, including two members of the "Sue" family making starts. Here is our entries this week:
Newscaster - He is entered on Friday 4/30 in the 8th race at Lone Star Park. This son on Uncle Mo out of Sue's Good News has been my "problem child" but is figuring it out. This race is his first time against winners, a NW1X or NW2L Allowance race. I hate our post position draw, but if he continues to improve and move on from his previous bad habits, he should run well. Entries are HERE
Tiz Life - He makes his career debut in the last race at Oaklawn on Friday 4/30. This big son of American Pharoah out of Tiz Miz Sue is making his career debut in a 6 furlong MSW race. To be clear, he will be better going a route of ground, we just thought we would pick a spot to get him some education and let him learn some things. We expect him to break well, fall back and eat some dirt, and then hopefully pick up some pieces and gallop out strong. Entries are HERE , and he is pictured two weeks ago at Oaklawn
Thanks for checking in, and I'll be sending out emails this week with updates on the race results as well as the big races for the week!
